Waterman began his playing career in Rossmoyne’s junior football division, where, at the age of fifteen, the East Fremantle Football Club eventually hired him.
With his former team, the West Coast Eagles, as his employer, Waterman started his coaching career in 1999. He was hired as the Fremantle Dockers’ defensive coach in 2001 and served in that capacity through 2005.
In addition, Waterman served as an assistant coach for the state teams in 2007 and 2008 and coached the Western Australian teams in 2004 and 2005.
Chris Waterman was hired as the Peel Thunder Football Club’s Senior Coach in 2006, and in 2008, he signed a three-year contract that would keep him there through 2010.
Chris Waterman left his position as Peel Thunder’s head coach at the conclusion of the 2009 WAFL season, and he is currently hoping to return to coaching at the AFL level.
