Salem bin Mohammed bin Shafi Al-Dawsari, popularly known as Salem Al-Dawsari is a Saudi Arabian footballer currently playing as a winger for Al-Hilal and the Saudi Arabia national team.
Al-Dawsari was born on 19 August 1991 in Wadi ad-Dawasir, Najd, Saudi Arabia.
He joined Al-Hilal as a youth player and in 2018, as part of a deal between the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and La Liga, he joined Spanish club Villarreal on loan.
He made one appearance in Spain, coming on as a substitute against Real Madrid as Villareal came from behind to draw 2–2.
In the second leg of the 2019 AFC Champions League Final on 24 November, he netted the opening goal in an eventual 2–0 away win over Urawa Red Diamonds, which saw Al-Hilal win the title following a 3–0 aggregate victory.
On the international level, he was called up to the Saudi Arabian national team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and scored his first international goal in an away match against Australia in 2012.
On Nov. 22, 2022, in the Group C opening game between Argentina and Saudi Arabia, Al-Dawsari produced an incredible solo run around the Argentinian penalty box before curling in an unstoppable shot beyond the reach of Emiliano Martinez to give the Saudis a shock 2-1 victory over World Cup favorites Argentina.
Saudi Arabia came from a goal down to win the tie 2-1.
Al-Dawsari has 2 step children and one of his own – the oldest is Tarfa and her twin brother Saud, and the youngest is Lama.
